The Story of Ganesha's Elephant Head

In August 2020, Deputy Secretary of Defense David L. Norquist approved the establishment of the UAPTF under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (USD(I&S)). The Department of the Navy was tasked with leading the task force. The UAPTF was created to enhance the understanding of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) and to assess their potential threat to U.S. national security.
The UAPTF's primary mission was to detect, analyze, and catalog UAP to determine their nature and origins, particularly focusing on any potential risks they might pose to national security.
Standardization and Destigmatization: The UAPTF played a significant role in standardizing and destigmatizing UAP reporting processes. This led to an increase in the volume of UAP reports and encouraged more thorough and open reporting of UAP encounters.
Data Improvement: The task force's efforts contributed to the improvement of sensor calibration, enhancing the quality and reliability of the data collected on UAP.
Identification of Foreign Objects: The UAPTF's methodologies and processes directly led to the identification of high-altitude balloons from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) that were detected traversing the continental United States.
